My name is Kym Roberts, and I am a twenty nine year old mother of two. I know how hard it is to lose the “baby weight” that comes with the whole motherhood package. Before I found out I was pregnant with my second child, I was 138 pounds. At the end of my pregnancy and after giving birth, I was over 210 pounds! How did I let myself get that far? I had to do something. I was horribly depressed and couldn’t fit into any of my clothes, even the maternity clothes! I know that it gets harder to lose weight the older one gets so, I immediately started dieting.
I tried everything from SlimFast to Ali, and any diet pill I could get my hands on. The only thing they made lighter was my wallet.
After months of fad dieting and getting nowhere I decided to join a gym. I went everyday! I did one hour of cardio and another hour of the machines. This went on for about two months and again I was getting no results. I was on the verge of giving up when I met David Hoffmaster. He had seen me day in and day out in the gym during this time. He stopped me one day and asked what kind of workouts I do. I told him about the cardio and all the machine work I did, and he asked, “How’s that working for you?” I didn’t know whether to slap him or cry and beg for help! I decided that I needed the help.
David introduced me to core-strength training. I didn’t know that by doing crazy cardio like I had been doing was just burning my muscle and not fat! Apparently, the more muscle you have, the more fat you burn. That same day he put me through one of his work-outs and I immediately felt the difference. At first I thought I would fall over dead, but afterwards, I had so much energy I didn’t know what to do with myself! I didn’t realize just how great a work-out you can get just from using your own body weight. It amazed me and I continued to go back for more.
That was in May of 2008, and by October of 2008, I had lost a total of 66 pounds! Thanks to David’s personal training and his Food Journal and Activity Log, I have lost the weight and kept it off, and will continue to keep it off.
PS: I got my mom a copy of the food log, and she’s had a weight loss of 26 pounds, and is off her diabetes medicine!
