I had a Bunch of Personal Training Success Stories from my old website. Unfortunately I don’t have pictures for these particular ones, so I posted them all together in one post for any of you that this may help.
It is always great to hear from someone else that has been in your position, and changed their life in a positive way. Please share these with anyone you think they could help!
I met David through my daughter and I am very glad I did! I have had type 2 diabetes for quite some time now and over the last year my health has taken a dive for the worst.
Recently, I had a doctor visit and was told that if I didn’t make a drastic change now, I would die very soon. My sugar level at that time was 316!
I then met with David. He made a workout plan for me with exercises that not only have helped me lose weight, but have also helped me with my back problem. The food journal that he wrote has been a wonderful tool for me. I have been eating healthy and keeping track of everything, which my doctor loves.
It has been two months and my sugar level is between 93 and 130! That is a HUGE difference, and I have lost 20 pounds! I have always thought it was too hard to eat healthy and stick to an exercise program, but after my recent scare I have realized that it is worth the hard work. I now have more time with my grandchildren and for this I am truly blessed.
I have trained in martial arts for over 10 years and have spent countless hours in weight rooms. After years of hard work I believed I had seen the peak of my strength; however after training with David for only a few short months, he has increased my strength & conditioning to levels i never thought possible. Any athlete that wants to discover his or her true potential absolutely needs to work with him! (my Axle thick bar dead lift went from 255 to 405!)

Testimonial for David Hoffmaster
David has been working with me for one year. I enjoy the variety and intensity of the workouts which balance strength, balance, and flexibility exercises. He adapts training to the needs and ability of each client to make each session a success. He also helps identify goals and monitors progress. In one year, I lost 40-50 pounds total while increasing muscle mass. In two months, I lost 4” in the hips, 6” waist, and 5” thigh. Thank you, David.
Alternative Testimonial for David Hoffmaster – the true one.
“Torture by David” is a good slogan of David Hoffmaster. (Notice that three letters in David also appear in Devil!) He makes you twist, hop, stretch, push, and pull in ways that no human should be expected to move. He uses all gym equipment to inflict pain and fatigue on clients. David ignores your screams and grunts, cracks painful jokes, and smiles while you lie incapacitated on the floor in a writhing, sweating lump. After a workout, you must go to bed for two hours and/or take drugs. This should serve as fair warning to anyone who is considering training with the best personal trainer in Western North Carolina, perhaps the Western Hemisphere.

David, My Father has always told me that you can count your true friends on one hand. You are one of those five. True friends are there to help you along, coach you through life, I guess you could say. True friends give helpful advice, pick you up when you’re down, and motivate you to do your best. That’s exactly what you do.
In the time that I have trained with you, you have given me knowledge, built my confidence, and have made me feel that I can achieve anything. I can’t thank you enough for what you and your program have done for me. I’m getting in shape the right way and loving every minute of it, thanks to you!
In 3 months I have lost 43 lbs, thanks to David and his crazy workouts. After having 2 kids, and not being able to see my own feet for so long, I thought it was impossible to get my “before children” body back.
David proved otherwise. Now I’m able to play with my kids and keep up without the feeling of falling over dead! So thank you David for all your help.
This experience has totally changed the way I look at working out – I actually look forward to it!

Since working with David, his help, knowledge and encouragement has helped me get my youthful flexibility back, strengthening my inner core which in tun has strengthened my outer core. I feel healthy, balanced, more confident and more mentally and physically happy with myself. I love my body now – it’s been years!

I have been training on my own as a recreational athlete for 15 years, and consider myself well-educated about training practices and principles. I was interested in getting some outside feedback and set-up an initial consultation with David. I was very impressed with our talk, he knowledge base and actual practice far exceeded mine. Plus he was very knowledgeable about the athletic side of training, which was my interest. During our initial training session I outline my goals and David conducted an initial evaluation to see where I was. He found several weaknesses, some of which I was aware, but unable to correct and a few that I was completely unaware of. During our weeks of training, developing my weaknesses was our focal point. By the end of the month, I had made substantial progress and had a better mind-muscle connection. I was also more balanced, allowing me to further reduce the chance of over-use injuries from sport.
Specifically one problem I had when I came to David was the pulling of groin muscles every time I sprinted hard in sports(for about 1 year). After working with David, and doing his prescribed exercises, the problem has gone away.
I highly recommend David to anyone seriously interesting in training and improving their sports performance.

David,One year ago today I had my first work out with you. One year ago, (or twenty years ago), I could not have come close to doing the work out you had me do today.
I can’t believe what has happened to me in the short time that I have been working with you! Thank you for your most capable guidance and support through this very challenging year. You have been a godsend. I have grown both physically and emotionally under your leadership. You have taught me to do many new things that have helped me develop more confidence in myself and some pretty strong muscles, too.
Again, thank you for a great year that has been unbelievably productive. I can truly say that I feel better at age 62 than I did at 32!

I like your site. A LOT! Especially that dessert recipe cookbook. Those damn pictures look so good I might have to try some of them this week. Everything appears real professional and it’s obvious you’ve put a lot of work into allthis.I strongly believe that David gets results out of people in minimal time.
I’ve been weight training consistently since 1995 and within a month I’ve learned more about proper individualized nutrition and training than all of those years combined.
Apart from being extremely personable and generous with his time and knowledge, (a rarity in the personal training profession) he has a unique ability to quickly determine the root of a person’s problems and give a detailed course of action to correct them, and take the client to the next level and beyond.
He is extremely well read in all aspects of sports nutrition, strength training and kinesiology and can relay things in simplified terms that anyone can understand.
I highly recommend David for anyone who wants to see results in minimal time without compromising their health or being forced outside of their comfort zone. I feel fortunate to know him as a trainer and a friend.

Dear David,Since I began working with you in late January I have two birthdays. One, is on October 9, the day I was born, and the other is January 29, the day Jimmy and I had our first session with you and the day that I started to get my life back. I would never have imagined that at sixty years of age I would be doing the things that we do every Monday morning at the gym. When we met, my knees were killing me, I was much heavier than I am now,(although I still have a long way to go), and I was thinking that knee replacement surgery would be in my near future. I had started going to the gym, but I was really stuck in neutral. Nothing seemed to be working for me. But that was then…
My life has been transformed during the last four months! My strength has increased , my flexibility is so much better than it was before you worked your magic, I have more confidence than I have ever had, my diet is clean…..and GOOD, and I feel like I am forty instead of sixty. Also, I don’t say “I Can’t” very much any more. I really find it hard to express just how good I feel now. And I think it’s your fault. Thank you so much…I have never had a better teacher any where.
You have been just what Jimmy needed, too. Although you work with both of us at the same time, you have the ability to individualize and meet each of our separate needs. He is doing things that he couldn’t do when he was young and feisty. I think he looks incredibly good, too, with all those muscles he has built. Both of us really get out of sorts now if anything interferes with our gym time. You have helped us to strengthen not only our bodies, but our commitment to live fit and healthy lives for the rest of out lives.
Please share this letter with anyone who might be hesitant to begin an exercise/nutrition program with you, especially older folks like us, or give them my phone number, and I will tell them to get started . It is by far, the best thing we have ever done for ourselves and is now the #1 priority in our lives. You have greatly exceeded any expectations we had concerning a physical fitness coach. You are such a caring, smart and gentle man and a wonderful example for all of us to follow. Thank you again for giving me my life back. We will have a birthday party next January 29.
Your student, Terry Blackwell – Retired 8th grade teacher, Flat Rock, NC
PS – You have worked your magic again! In January, my triglyceride level was 282….this week 160. In January, my cholesterol level was 203…this week 180! Never in my life has my cholesterol been that low. You are the best!!!! T B-well(April 08)
This past April, after some serious medical problems, I had the good fortune of meeting David Hoffmaster and soon after put myself in his capable hands in order to return my body to its former self. It became immediately clear that David was not just a trainer, he is, in the truest sense, a “coach”. The first few weeks were, in a word, frustrating. He made me do exercises the purpose of which I was unsure. He would not allow me to do the weight lifting routines that I had done for 30 years. He would stop me if I overexerted myself. Fortunately, I had the wisdom to toss out everything I held dear in the gym and listen to my “coach”. This is what one does with a coach….you TRUST them. You put yourself in their hands and let them give you what you NEED, not what you WANT.
Over the course of the next 6 weeks, my endurance improved dramatically. I could go longer on a bike and my heart rate slowed down. He started me doing some exercises that I had always shied away from out of fear of injury. Like a good coach, he pushed me through that fear.
Then one day, when he thought I was ready, and not a day before, David started me into some serious weight training. He had me handling weights that I had never done before. He was probably smiling inside at my newfound cockiness and sense of accomplishment. I know that the work was mine but it would never have been accomplished had it not been for my Coach. You see, after giving me what I NEEDED, I now was fit enough to get what I WANTED.
This is the mark of a wise trainer. David Hoffmaster is such a man. I can think of no other trainer I have worked with who knows the human body, physiology, pharmacology and the human mind better than David. He helped me regain my strength, my self-confidence and my optimism about my health.
I heartily recommend him to anyone looking to improve their bodies. He will help you achieve your goals and do so in a manner that does not invite injury as experienced by those whose self-expectations exceed their starting abilities. Trust me, David Hoffmaster will get you there.

David was great! Many areas of my body look better than they did before my 2 children. I am going to continue these workouts for years to come.

I have been a member of (withheld) for the past four and a half years with the intent of getting in, and staying in, good condition for high school sports teams, and more importantly I have been training to get into the United States Military Academy at West Point. About a year and a half ago my parents and I went to the management at (withheld) to ask their advice on how I should train for the physical portion of this task. They recommended David Hoffmaster, an exceptional trainer who was previously enlisted in the United States Army (and who knows Army standards).David has been my trainer since then, and he got me in great shape for my Army Reserve APFT (Army Physical Fitness Test), and my academy physical fitness tests, as well as track meets and JROTC fitness tests. I did extremely well on the physical tests for all of the service academies, and was accepted by the United States Coast Guard Academy, the United States Naval Academy Prep School, and the United States Military Academy.
Upon acceptance into West Point, David and I worked towards getting me in top physical shape to prepare me for Cadet Basic Training in the summer of 2003. We worked hard, and David gave me a lot of insight into not only where my strengths and weaknesses lie, and how to improve upon them, but also some facts about the Army that could not be read in bocks- information that could only be learned by experience.
I successfully completed Cadet Basic Training, and had the honor of being chosen as the “Best New Cadet” in my company (a company consists of approximately 120 people). I actually lost muscle during Cadet Basic Training, and was in better shape before I left than I am now.
Thank you – without your help I might not have gotten to where I am now!
Sincerely, Chelsea N. Jones United States Military Academy West Point, NY
